Firedoors

Description: http://www.bmtrada.co.uk/images/BMT_Q_Mark_185.jpgBM TRADA Q-Mark Certification Number 543
Q-Mark Fire Door Registered Installer SchemeQ-Mark

Shaw Building Solutions became a BM Trada Q-Mark Registerd Installer in October 2011

Schemes
Fire doors save lives and protect property and as such it is vital that they are manufactured, installed, specified and checked correctly. BM TRADA offers comprehensive certification for timber fire doors, through its Q-Mark manufacturing and installation schemes.

BM TRADA has operated the Q-Mark Timber Fire Door Scheme since 1981. It is a third-party scheme which provides independent to architects, specifiers, enforcing authorities and building owners that all doors sold under the scheme meet the specified technical and regulatory requirements.

In January 2001 BM TRADA launched the installers scheme to complement the long established manufacturing scheme. By completing the process, the installers' scheme gives full peace of mind to the end customer.

Shaw Building Solutions have completed a scheme to install 827 Nr Fire Doors & Fire Doors sets, to the communal landing areas of 16 Nr multi-storey tower blocks for East North East Homes Leeds

The works involved the replacement of 5 Nr doors per landing on blocks containing between 11 and 16 floors, including fire screen partition, meter cupboard, bin chute and stairwell doors.

Due to the Health & Safety issues we were faced, in working in the busy communal areas, the project was run like a military operation with door sets and ironmongery sets being pre-delivered into a central store, 72 hours before their installation date.

These were then transported to site daily by one of our two teams of labourers, who  distributed them to the work place by utilising the lifts and in many cases the stairs.

Once delivered, they removed the existing doors and frames off site, to special 14 yard timber recycling skips.

One of our team of 15 joiners installed the doors, which were checked off daily by our BM Trada accredited manager.
